Jessica Valenti - The Purity Myth. (via whattheactualfuck-)
I keep seeing Jessica Valenti quotes, and I can’t help but realize that almost all of them can only apply to white women.
Because this? This right here? This does not apply to black women. We’re “impure” whether or not we’ve had sex; society doesn’t give a fuck. You’re a black woman. If you’re not presenting as a slut, you must be one secretly.
White women have the privilege of having the default of “virgin,” “sweet,” “innocent,” “pure.” We don’t have such luxuries.
