Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
…well, to put it in context, somebody in the Bush II regime… I want to say it was Cheney, but it might have been Rove… actually came out and said that if 51% of the country is safe and happy then the president’s job is done.
And there are people who believe this. The same kind of people who think equality means that everyone gets a ride in the ambulance or nobody does and never mind what the whiner having a heart attack thinks, mostly. They think “Well, this is a democracy and if there are more of us and we’re the majority… tough luck.” And it’s implicit in this thought that they believe they are forever in the majority, that they will always be in the 50+% and not in the 50-%, which would be short-sighted of them even if they weren’t completely wrong about where they stand in the scheme of things.
