Introducing: Hell Yeah, Agender!

hellyeahagender:

After noticing that there was such a small amount of information out there on being agender and an even smaller amount of places where agender people could go and talk about being agender, I decided to make this tumblr.

The purpose of Hell Yeah, Agender! is this: to share information about being agender, to offer useful posts and resources to agender people, and to also offer other agender people a place to go to share things about themselves and their experiences.

So! I’m taking submissions for all things agender related which includes, but is in no way limited to:

  • Personal stories, videos, and pictures.
  • Tips, advice, and tutorials.
  • News stories, articles, and petitions.
  • Recommendations for books, movies, fanfic, and TV shows that feature an agender character.
  • Recommendations for agender music artists or songs about being agender.
  • Meta about agender characters or the way agender people/being agender is portrayed in the media.
  • Comics or memes about being agender.
  • Resources and links that could be useful for agender people.
  • So on and so forth.

I’m also looking for people to help run this tumblr, so please look at what I’m looking for and send me an ask if you’re interested. Also, suggestions for what else to do with this tumblr are totally welcome too.

I’m hoping that this tumblr will turn into something great and that eventually it will be a good resource for not only agender people, but also for people who are questioning whether or not they could be agender and also people who just want to know more about what it means to be agender.

That’s all for now. I hope everyone has a great night! :)

Vocabulary You Should Know (and understand)
Graphic and following text from BASIC RIGHTS OREGON:
You may have heard the word cisgender before, but you may not know what it means.  Cisgender is a term used to describe people who, for the most part, identify as the gender they were assigned at birth.  For example, if a doctor said “it’s a boy!” when you were born, and you identify as a man, then you could be described as cisgender. In other words, ‘cisgender’ is used to describe people who are not transgender.
So why do we say ‘cisgender’ instead of ‘non-transgender’? Because, referring to cisgender people as ‘non trans’ implies that cisgender people are the default and that being trans is abnormal.  Many people have said ‘transgender people’ and ‘normal people’, but when we say ‘cisgender’ and ‘transgender’ neither is implied as more normal than the other.
Using the word ‘cisgender’ is also an educational tool.  To simply define people as ‘non-trans’ implies that only transgender people have a gender identity.  But that’s not true.  Like sexual orientation, race, class, and many other identities, all of us have a gender identity.
Language is important; it defines human relationships.  That is why it’s important use language of equality and inclusion.

I had to be honest with myself about the totality of my experiences. And the funny thing about honesty is that it’s not only a gift to other people—it’s one you give to yourself.

What exactly does it mean to be queer, asexual or aromatic?

Queer is a term used to describe people who are GSM (gender and sexuality minorities).

Asexual is a lack of sexual attraction or sexual interest in others.

…Aromatic would indicate something has an aroma… but I’m thinking you meant aromantic. Aromantic would be a lack of romantic attraction or romantic interest in others.
