Hello.

A survey for nonbinary/genderqueer folk

tooyoungforthelivingdead:

lottelodge:

It says: “I’m running a bit of an informal data-gathering thing to see how people express their nonbinary gender. I’ll publish the results in July 2013 if I get more than 100 respondents.”

It’s pretty short!

It’s only like four questions, about preferred pronouns and titles and stuff.

If you’re one of us, do the survey, maybe?

This was forwarded to me, so I’m passing it on. There is more info that was in the email but should be available via the people doing the study if you’re curious for more details:

We are doing a research study about transgender men’s’ experiences with pregnancy.  We are surveying people who identify as transgender men (assigned female at birth with a transmasculine/ transmale/ female-to-male gender identity) who have been pregnant and delivered a baby.  If you self-identify with this population, then we would like to invite you to participate in this study.
If you choose to be in the study, you will complete an online survey.  It will take about 20 minutes to complete.  The questions will relate to your experience with fertility, conception, pregnancy, and birth.   To be eligible for the study you must be over 18 years old and have completed a pregnancy within the past 10 years.
You can skip questions that you do not want to answer or stop the survey at any time. The survey is anonymous, and no one will be able to link your answers back to you. Please do not include your name or other information that could be used to identify you in the survey responses.
Questions?  Please contact the study coordinator Lexi Light (415-206-6453, LightA@obgyn.ucsf.edu) or the principal investigator Dr. Jennifer Kerns (415-206-3157, KernsJL@obgyn.ucsf.edu). If you have questions or concerns about your rights as a research participant, you can call the UCSF Committee on Human Research at 415-476-1814.
Being in this study is optional. If you want to participate, click this link to start the survey:  https://redcap.ucsfopenresearch.org/surveys/?s=c4SXLP.

This looks incredibly interesting. It’s good that research on this sort of topic is being done, since a lot of medical research completely ignores the existence of trans* people, especially those that use their reproductive systems.

GLAAD: Ruling Against Sweden's Forced Sterilization For Transgender People Takes Effect

Sweden has moved closer to the full repeal of a law that forced transgender citizens to udnergo sterilization through surgery in order to change the gender marker on their legal identification. A December ruling by the Stockholm adminstrative court, which found the 1972 law to be discriminatory and in violation of the European Convention of Human Rights, sets legal precedent as of January, with a full repeal of the law expected for July 2013.

Sixteen other countires in the European Union - and many U.S. states - currently mandate surgical procedures that result in sterilzation in order for transgender people to change their legal identifictaion. These laws stand despite the fact that many transgender people cannot access surgery or do not want it.

As some of you may know, I’m having a rough time at home.

I’m on the verge of getting kicked out for coming out to my parents and losing the 8% of tuition my parents pay for Georgetown.

I recently came out to my parents and they were not at all pleased. There was a lot of yelling and a lot of threats laid out on the table. In lieu of staying here at my parents house for the remaining summers I have my undergraduate studies I have decided it’d be best if I didn’t have to be hypervigilant and possibly land on my ass anyway and homeless for the summers. If you follow my posts tagged ‘day 82’ you’ll get a better picture of what I’m talking about.

I would use the money for leasing an apartment, buying food, and paying bills. And ONLY for the summers, I won’t take anyone’s money for fall or spring semesters because that would be asking a lot. If you would like to know what I’m buying with your money I would be more than happy to send you a message with that information whenever the time comes around.

So please DONATE BY CLICKING THE RAINBOW ON MY PAGE if you’re feeling generous.

About Us

tuckingandotherskills:

This blog is aimed at DMAB (that’s designated male at birth) trans people. We’re tired of playing second fiddle to DFAB trans people in the queer community and having our spaces flooded exclusively with pictures and advice about binding, packing, testosterone, how to cultivate facial hair, etc. etc.

So here is a blog for you, DMAB people, where we’re going to be talking about tucking, padding, oestrogen, obliterating facial hair, makeup, clothes, and anything else your cisgender parents didn’t teach you, and your queer community was too busy elsewhere to fill you in on.

Some of the advice here will relate particularly to trans* women to do with passing, going stealth, transitioning and so on, but for the most part we’d hope that our advice will be as helpful to DMAB nonbinary trans* people to consolidate their knowledge on how to express their gender too!

attn tumblr users: regarding anyone involved in trans* blogging and support

warloq:

I need to be dead serious for a minute.

there’s a photo series going around called “Lisalott” by S. Black, featuring the conscious bodies of trans*people clothed (before) and unclothed (after). This was a photoseries posted by my significant other, who had a small number of followers, and he didn’t expect many people to see them. Instead, it got around the tumblrverse and the notes per photo and series both skyrocketed. His friend, the photographer of this series, and he have determined that while the exposure of the Lisalott photographs have been overwhelmingly gratifying, it wasn’t up to them to expose the models to thousands of random people in a snowball-effect style that the internet has a way of carrying out. If you see or reblog ANY photos from the Lisalott series, I implore you to delete them and ask others to do the same. The original poster and the photographer, in accord, have both withdrawn consent for the release of these photos.

The original poster has deleted his account due to complications regarding the Lisalott series.

Serious as a heart attack. Please reblog this. If you have any questions you can direct them to me here. Thank you so much for the support and best be with you.
