Ashley Del Valle is a transgender woman from New York who was arrested in Georgia for indecent exposure after she allegedly showed her breasts, but then was housed in an all-male jail.I just.

We are doing a research study about transgender men’s’ experiences with pregnancy. We are surveying people who identify as transgender men (assigned female at birth with a transmasculine/ transmale/ female-to-male gender identity) who have been pregnant and delivered a baby. If you self-identify with this population, then we would like to invite you to participate in this study.
If you choose to be in the study, you will complete an online survey. It will take about 20 minutes to complete. The questions will relate to your experience with fertility, conception, pregnancy, and birth. To be eligible for the study you must be over 18 years old and have completed a pregnancy within the past 10 years.
You can skip questions that you do not want to answer or stop the survey at any time. The survey is anonymous, and no one will be able to link your answers back to you. Please do not include your name or other information that could be used to identify you in the survey responses.

This looks incredibly interesting. It’s good that research on this sort of topic is being done, since a lot of medical research completely ignores the existence of trans* people, especially those that use their reproductive systems.

A Note On Anti-Trans Violence
Radical feminists often claim that trans women defending themselves from radical feminist transmisogyny is a form of misogyny because it’s “really” only men who are responsible for anti-trans violence, not cis women. This is solidly refuted by National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs’ annual Hate Violence reports; which indicate that out of 730 recorded hate crimes committed against LGBT people, no less than 148 were committed by cis women.
The Hate Violence reports also refute the radical feminist claim that trans women are responsible for a tremendous amount of violence against cis women; only 9 hate crimes were committed by trans people of any sort.

GLAAD: Ruling Against Sweden's Forced Sterilization For Transgender People Takes Effect
Sweden has moved closer to the full repeal of a law that forced transgender citizens to udnergo sterilization through surgery in order to change the gender marker on their legal identification. A December ruling by the Stockholm adminstrative court, which found the 1972 law to be discriminatory and in violation of the European Convention of Human Rights, sets legal precedent as of January, with a full repeal of the law expected for July 2013.

Sixteen other countires in the European Union - and many U.S. states - currently mandate surgical procedures that result in sterilzation in order for transgender people to change their legal identifictaion. These laws stand despite the fact that many transgender people cannot access surgery or do not want it.

Bad news for the Westboro Baptist Church and other right-wing groups: the percentage of Americans who sincerely believe that homosexuality is a sin has decreased significantly, a new poll has found. The Nashville-based LifeWay Research organization revealed that just 37 percent of Americans surveyed in November said they believed homosexual behavior was a sin, a seven point drop from the previous year’s survey.
