There is no doubt in my mind that California will be a huge “land of opportunity” for me (especially compared to Utah)— but in order to GET there and take advantage of said opportunities, I need a little help…

It looks like it will cost $600- $800 to rent a truck and pay for the gas and whatnot.

My family can help physically with packing and loading, but are too broke (or too stubborn…) to help financially. My husband is finding odd jobs from friends and neighbors, we are selling off a lot of our belongings, and we are going to have a huge SALE in the shop starting next week, but I am still worried about covering the total amount…

This move will open SO MANY door for us; D has great job prospects, it will provide a better (and more accessible) education for me, and the availability of medical assistance programs and Medicaid could quite possibly save (or prolong) my life. 

Many of my followers have told me to let them know if I ever need anything, and so I guess this is where I come here and beg.

So someone I know solely online who seems pretty awesome is in need of some voice help. I am like the wrongest person to ask, but she’s not exactly in the best financial situation so I was wondering if I can kick my Tumblr Trans* Army into gear here.

Here’s what she needs:

Cheap or free training videos/tapes/whatever for help working on making your voice sound more “typically female.” I can give general advice but I know there’s expertise out there.

This is what the school-to-prison pipeline looks like. This is how black youth are criminalized.

1. She was doing a science experiment
2. She’s being charged as an ADULT
3. She’s being charged with a FELONY

If this all goes the way the prosecution wants, this young woman will be LEGALLY discriminated against for the rest of her life. No voting, housing discrimination,  employment discrimination (as if getting a job while black isn’t hard enough), etc. etc.

Perhaps instead of fighting about who is tougher, Batman or Iron Man, we could spend a little internet rage making sure this young scientist doesn’t go to prison?

Let’s not let Kiera Wilmot’s situation drift out of our consciousness. Let’s continue paying attention to this story until she is NOT a felon and NOT expelled. 

To be clear, I did this EXACT THING in ninth grade. THE EXACT SAME THING without consulting my science teacher and with significantly more explosive power. For some reason…not sure why…I was not arrested, handcuffed, expelled, or put in jail. If I had been, I can guarantee I would not be where I am now.

So the bank I got a student loan from has a really shitty policy whereby if you miss a payment, you have to make a payment in order to get any kind of deferment (stopping payments for a while), even if it’s an economic hardship deferment.

In order for me to stop the payments, I will have to make a $202 (USD) payment first. I don’t have $202 (I have no income), my co-signer does not have $202, and I really do not want to default on this loan.

p.s. Wells Fargo is a terrible bank; never get a loan from them if you can help it.

I’m reblogging myself to post an update.

Wells Fargo has started calling me and telling me that my loan account is “delinquent” and that I need to fix that by the end of the month to avoid default. So far, several people have donated a total of $86 to me. (Yay, that is almost halfway toward $202! Thank you to those three donors!)

Part of why I want to avoid defaulting is because my aunt (the co-signer) would very likely cut me and my mother off from any help she gives us, ever, and my mother does not deserve to suffer like that.

If you can part with one dollar to help out a fellow human being, please do it. You don’t need a Paypal account, and you’d be helping me spare my mother from my aunt’s cruelty. If I can get $202 before the next payment is due (May 10), I will be able to defer payments until I have income.

Please help.

My daughter got meningitis at birth and has global developmental delay, vision impairment, and CP. She needs lots of therapy to be able to do even basic functions!

Much to everyone’s surprise, my daughter got meningitis at birth and due to a lot of mistakes made by doctors as well, she consequently had severe brain damage after the bacteria ate her brain tissues. She just turned 3 on the 8th of April and she has global developmental delay, vision impairment and cerebral palsy. She doesn’t sit, or walk, or talk, or see properly. It’s really difficult to carry her around as she is on the chubby end and weighs more than 40lbs.

Looking at her you could never tell anything is wrong because she was a typical healthy child at birth without any abnormalities, but once you spend a little time with her you will start wondering why she’s not doing A LOT or ANY of the things her age children would be doing :(. It kills me to not have to go through milestones with her and there is a constant thought of what if something I could have done differently or been more aware of what the doctors were doing. But now were keeping all that behind us and just focusing and putting all our energy on Safiyyah’s well being… but we need help…

I want to raise a campaign for Safiyyah as we see so much potential in her. She was given just minutes to live and she has come so far with doctors in awe. She truly is a fighter! Her only medicine is intense therapy; vision therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and most important of them all-physiotherapy. Unfortunately, everything is so expensive. We as parents feel that with intense therapy sessions, she will soon enough be able to sit, stand, and walk on her own.

With contributors that may be able to fund money for her, it will substantially help us in giving Safiyyah the maximum support in achieving all the daily and basic functions of a normal human being, and I really hope that can happen sooner than later.

Hello. My name is Neoma Lindley, and I live with a condition called ‘pseudo-tumor cerebri’, a form of IIH (idiopathic inter-cranial hypertension). This condition causes severe migraines, vision problems, and at times leaves me in such pain that I can’t function.

Treatment for this condition is a lumbar puncture and tap, to remove excess cerebral-spinal fluid. However, this procedure is expensive, and since my mother’s death last April, I have not been able to afford a tap, meaning my inter-cranial pressure is very high, and I am struggling to function.

With out treatment, I am experiencing radical and continual vision loss. I really need help.

I need this tap, and I need it as soon as possible, but without aid there is no way way for me to get it. Every little bit helps, you have no idea — if four thousand people can spare a single dollar to me, I’ll be in the clear for this procedure.
